British newcomers were one of the first groups to settle in Canada, moving into the Atlantic Provinces and modern day Ontario as early as the 18th century.  Many British settlers were fleeing the American Revolution at the time. Since then, British people have consistently chosen to come to Canada.

Due to Canada being and English-speaking country and part of the Commonwealth, it’s no surprise that the British community makes up one of the largest immigrant groups in Canada. There are approximately 600,000 British living in Canada currently, and this will no doubt increase in the coming years.
