The first Poles to come to Canada are recorded as arriving in the 18th century, with the first newcomers settling in Montreal. Apart from during the world wars, they have been migrating ever since, and the Polish community is an integral part of society in cities throughout Canada.

There are approximately 170,000 Polish expats residing in Canada, making the Polish community one of the largest expat communities in the country. Furthermore, over one million Canadians claim partial or full Polish ethnicity.
