In our article from November 4, 2020, we looked at some research from the Government of Canada, which found that Canadian-born individuals are less likely to continue taking precautions once COVID-19 safety protocols are relaxed than those born outside of Canada. A different study by Statistics Canada similarly found that newcomers to Canada are generally more worried about the health risks of resuming a variety of activities than those born in Canada. Note that these statistics were published in July 2020, prior to the approval and rollout of COVID-19 vaccines.
